VCV Rack it’s a virtual modular environment emulating the Eurorack format. It is the engine powering VCV modules, and just got an important release from the recent past.
VCV version 0.5 is a pre-release beta and so not officially supported. It is free and fully supported by its Facebook group. Being an open source software, you can install third-party modules downloadable into GitHub folders, which is key for the third-party modules. Don’t worry, because this process is not difficult.

Aside from adding modules, you can as well connect cables, edit parameters, and save/load patches. Create generative patches with your mouse, perform with your MIDI keyboard controller, or connect it to your favorite DAW using the Rack Bridge VST/AU plugin, said to come soon!

If you already own a modular synthesizer, you can enhance your setup with an audio interface supporting CV signals (see  ) or a CV-MIDI-CV interface module with Rack’s CV Interface, which will be released in the near future as well.

Version 0.5 is available for MacOS, Windows, and Linux. It requires an audio interface module to wire up as the output.
